Your first session is a short story gate, not a grind. You start in Mitis Town, in the only blue house at the town center. You put on the LoomiWatch while the news plays, your in-game mother helps activate it, and she sends you toward the Dig Site. Battle Theatre medals you earn later hang in your room upstairs.
Before you leave town
- Talk to marked NPCs. Routes and apps stay locked until the matching story line is done.
- Learn where the party, bag, storage, and settings live. You will use all four in the first hour.
- Heal at the Loomian Center whenever the party is worn down. The attendant heals everyone.
- Keep a few Capture Discs before you walk into tall grass. Running out of discs is the usual reason a first capture gets away.
Choose the laboratory partner
The Loomian Laboratory in Mitis Town is where you take your first beginner Loomian. There are seven beginner lines in Roria: Embit, Dripple, Fevine, Eaglit, Vambat, Snocub, and Weevolt. Each evolves starting at level 18 and again starting at level 34. The individual you pick at the laboratory cannot be traded. A rallied or purchased copy of the same species can.
None of the seven is required to finish the opening routes. The choice matters once Battle Theatres specialize. See the beginner Loomian pages for the final typings, and the Battle Theatre guide before you challenge Silvent or Heiwa.
First wild captures
Tall grass starts a battle. Experience goes to Loomians that took part; a fainted teammate does not gain that battle's experience. When you want the wild Loomian, stop attacking to knock it out and throw a disc instead.
A practical first catching set is a damaging move plus Spare. Spare leaves the target at 1 HP, so you are less likely to knock out the Loomian you wanted. Sleep or paralysis, when you have them, further helps the disc. Store extras once the party of six is full. Do not release a species you have not logged.
A team, not one carry
Story battles and theatres expect more than one typing. By the time you leave the first route chain, aim for three or four Loomians within a few levels of each other. A single over-leveled partner stalls when you are forced to switch.
If you black out to a trainer, you return to the last center. A lost wild battle simply ends. Use wild grass to learn a matchup, and heal before a trainer.
The next real milestones
- Catch a second and third Loomian that do not share your beginner's weakness.
- Clear Silvent City's Battle Theatre when the story points you there. Battle Star Naya uses Light and Dark Loomians and awards the Harmony Medal.
- Reach Heiwa Village only after the story opens it. The Fire theatre there requires the Corrupt Ikazune at The Pagoda to be defeated first.
- On Route 6, burn the briars with the Controlled Burn app from Heiwa, then use Rally Ranch when you care about Unique Points and Personality. Sawyer's free Trumbull Saddle is the first mount.
- Returning players who already have Geo Hop should take the train from Cheshma Town into Route 9 and read the Field Capture guide before spending discs.
Unique Points, Personality, and Training Points can wait until Rally Ranch. They do not decide the first theatre.
